Lucy's Retired Surfer Bar & Restaurant To Close

Eater has confirmed that Saturday night will be the last for downtown's Lucy's Retired Surfers Bar & Restaurant. The Austin branch of the "refuge for misplaced surfers, gremmies and ho-dads" can no longer make ends meet. Owner Bruce Rampick laments that "we were just getting traction" only to be hit by "another long, hot summer."

"We did our best," Rampick says. "It's pretty discouraging." Branches of the restaurant remain open in New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

UPDATE! Our tipster comments that they're "sad to see it go. It was a great, quick place for lunch (which on west 6th is hard to find during the day - most places are only doing dinner!)"
