Iconic Lockhart barbecue joint Black's Barbecue is going west to San Marcos, with Black's general manager Kent Black planning to open an "old-school barbecue" spot with "a few tweaks of [his] own."
So if you've missed the cut-off at Franklin, John Mueller or La Barbecue, or are suddenly craving a beer and a slice of brisket at 11:30 p.m.? It's all good, as Community Impact reports:
According to city of San Marcos records, Black is proposing a 4,650-square-foot restaurant with indoor seating for 100 people, as well as 2,850 square feet of outdoor seating for 50 people. The restaurant would serve alcohol and be open from 10 a.m. until midnight. This isn't the first time a Lockhart locale has branched out: folks from the Kreuz Market and Smitty's families announced plans for Schmidt Family Barbecue in Bee Cave last year, with plans to open this fall.
