Aaron Franklin recently sat down to talk with Texas Monthly BBQ Editor Daniel Vaughn for a segment of Dan Rather Reports. In this video, he describes his interventions for the 6:30am line starters ("go get a taco"), standing in line for "a couple of hours" at Dallas's Pecan Lodge, and why vegetables are his comfort food. Just like Franklin's most famous sauce, he runs on espresso, consuming 6 - 7 before lunch.
Franklin also reveals that if he weren't making BBQ, he'd be brewing beer "like everyone else" or roasting coffee. Perhaps while he lives out his coffee fantasy, he could lend Franklin to Paul Qui?
