The flagship Whole Foods store located at Lamar and Sixth, open since 2005, is due an upgrade. A rep for the grocer tells CultureMap that all of the prepared-food stations will be remodeled in the next four to five months with new salad, sushi, and hot-food stations. The remodel will also add extra express lanes to the checkout and change up the coffee and juice bars. Why bother? According to Retail Leader, these kinds of makeovers can increase sales by five to 10 percent. And why redo only the prepared foods? That's where the money's at.
The store will remain open during the renovation process.
