SPIN Modern Thai to Shutter After Dinner Saturday

Matthew Odam reports in The Statesman that critically acclaimed restaurant SPIN Modern Thai will shut its doors this weekend after Saturday's dinner service. Opened by Ek Timrerk and Thai Changthong in 2012, SPIN quickly racked up accolades for serving Thai food with bold, fresh flavors. But according to Odam, "positive critical reviews and strong word-of-mouth isn't enough to keep a restaurant open" and "rising expenditures for kitchen repairs" along with an out-of-the-way location contributed to the owner's decision to close. The restaurant will serve its last meal this Saturday night ending service at 8 p.m.

In his review of SPIN last year, Odam gave it a 9 out 10 and ranked it #17 on his Top 50 list of the year. It also recently joined the Eater 38. So this one is a shocker.
