Daniel Olivella's Barlata Tapas Bar Opens Tonight On South Lamar

New, 15 comments

Barlata, the Austin outpost of Oakland chef Daniel Olivella, begins dinner service tonight on South Lamar, with service from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. The tapas bar is one of Eater Austin's most anticipated openings of 2013, with Olivella introducing his signature Spanish recipes to the 78704. According to Matthew Odam over at the Statesman, the Austin menu features:

... two dozen hot tapas plates (seafood stuffed with octopus, grilled morcilla sausage); 10 paella (including seafood, chicken, rabiit and vegetarian versions); a variety of "latas," dishes served inside small tin cans; and "platos" that include a beef and chorizo hamburger, tuna "a la plancha" and grilled baby lamb chops.
It looks like they'll eventually take reservations via OpenTable, but for now the system's offline; be prepared for a wait as Austinites turn out to see what Olivella's got in store for Spanish food lovers.
