Does this Texas Monthly barbecue issue cover mean that Franklin Barbecue is their new pick for best in Texas? Every five years, the magazine updates its barbecue top 50, and this is the first year Franklin's been open and eligible for the list. The top five in 2008: Kreuz Market, City Market, Louie Mueller BBQ, Snow's BBQ and Smitty's. This year's purports to be a best in "the world" list, but this is coming from the "national magazine of Texas," so grandstanding is expected (and deserved). [TxMo]
