Whip In Veteran Martine Pelegrin To Develop Mediterranean Small Plates Menu At New Quickie Pickie

New, 1 comment

The east side's Quickie Pickie c-store is changing, but not precisely in the way the Scrumptious Chef blog reported. The revamped store, owned by Zahir Prasla, will offer beer and wine by the glass, grocery items and a "revolving bar menu of small plates" from a "ready-to-eat Mediterranean-American menu" developed by Whip In and Chez Nous veteran chef Martine Pèlegrin, managed by "long-time neighborhood resident" Emily Lowe.

The Quickie Pickie folks send over what they're calling "the real scoop" on the project, set to open in May:

Harking back to an earlier heyday (think: Green & White as a grocery, Flo's where Takoba sits), General Manager and long-time neighborhood resident, Emily Lowe, has worked closely with Chef Martine Pèlegrin to develop a concept designed to serve all of the diverse Central East Austin neighborhood, old-timers and new-comers alike. Pèlegrin (of Bistro Le Marseillais, Chez Nous and, most recently, Whip-in) has created a ready-to-eat Mediterranean-American menu, to include rotisserie meats, stews, soups, salads, casseroles and desserts, to pick up on the way home.
Quickie Pickie will offer "breakfast, lunch and coffee drinks" daily, with "small-plate pairings for beer and wine taking the stage at night."
