Pastry Chefs Up For 'People's' Food & Wine Award

Four Austin pastry chefs are nominated for Food & Wine's central region "People's Best New Pastry Chef" award: Foreign & Domestic's Jodi Elliott, Barley Swine's Kyle McKinney, Swift's Attic's Callie Speer and Congress' Erica Waksmunski.

Their "quintessential" desserts? "Brown butter blondie sundae with dried cherries and toffee chip ice cream" for Elliott, "Barley-steeped panna cotta with Texas berries and sweetened barley crumbles" for McKinney, "Popcorn & A Movie: buttered-popcorn ice cream, mini candy bars, caramelized popcorn and root beer gel" for Speer and "Lime-basil sorbet with yogurt mousse and Asian pear" for Waksmunski.

Voting opens today, and polls will close April 8th.
