Nuevo Leon Finally Closes At The Ripe Old Age Of 31

New, 11 comments

Remember that time Nuevo Leon wasn't closed, even though some people who weren't owner Rachel Davila said it was closed? Now owner Rachel Davila says Nuevo Leon is actually closed, at the ripe old age of 31. (Davila herself is 77.) Despite Davila's call for patrons to "come and rescue" her restaurant last month after business dipped thanks to false closure reports, the note at right was taped to the East Sixth Street Tex-Mex joint's windows this weekend. It announces Davila's retirement:

Dear Valued Client, This Saturday, March 2, 2013, Nuevo Leon Restaurant will close. It is with sadness and excitement that I announce my retirement. Thank you for your support during my 31 years as a local business. Please come see us during the last two days. Bar specials on Saturday.
Signed, of course, Rachel Davila. Eater readers, what are your favorite memories of Nuevo Leon over the past three decades? Let's talk in the comments.
