Texas Monthly has hired its first ever full-time Barbecue Editor. The man with the dream job is Dallas-based barbecue aficionado Daniel Vaughn, the guy behind the Full Custom Gospel BBQ blog and Tony Bourdain's proclaimed "Yoda of Barbecue." Eater National has the scoop:
Vaughn will write stories on barbecue topics for Texas Monthly's websites, will manage and update the magazine's Top Fifty Barbecue list (which will get its massive, once-every-five-years update in June), and, perhaps most interestingly, will write weekly reviews of Texas-style barbecue both inside and outside of the state. (Look out, cheap imitators.) Or, as Vaughn tells Eater, "I want to cover the entire life-cycle of barbecue. Hell, I might even interview my pharmacist."Vaughn's barbecue book, The Prophets of Smoked Meat, will be released in May on Bourdain's Ecco imprint. Head on over to Eater National for the full details on Vaughn's badass new barbecue gig.
