Virginia Wood dives in to the controversy over the gentrification of East Sixth Street with La Corsha Hospitality Group's purchase of several properties in the area. La Corsha partner Scott Walker admits he previously used the term "dive bar" to describe the upcoming Wonderland replacing the beloved Cheer Up Charlie's, because "we didn't want people to think we were coming to the Eastside to do another Bar Congress." Wood wonders whether "the owners of the old conjunto and beer bars displaced along East Sixth over the past 10 years are the ones who appreciate the irony here the most." [Chronicle]
