Urban Farms Update

New, 1 comment

edeneast150.jpgThe Statesman reports that the city council voted largely support the new urban farm zoning. The zoning proposal was supported by the farmers, though the council added restrictions on events and animal slaughter. Sonya Cote's restaurant Eden East is hosted by commercially zoned Springdale Farm and will therefore not be affected by new events restrictions. The city council also rejected a proposal to develop "healthy food zones," which would have banned fast food restaurants from areas near schools or other child-friendly institutions. [Statesman]
