Noted pastry chef and Pichet Ong protégé Janina O'Leary left TRACE last month, but promised to announce new plans soon. Today, the upcoming East Side French restaurant laV announced via The Statesman that O'Leary has joined their team. The Allison Jenkins-helmed restaurant is scheduled to open in early 2014 for nightly dinners and Sunday brunch. The team has a "preview" food truck, Say laV, already open at the Volstead Lounge. The truck will go on hiatus on 12/1 as the laV staff focuses on the new restaurant.
In an interview, O'Leary told Matthew Odam of The Statesman that her program will focus on "rustic breads, pastries, seasonal and light-hearted desserts" and that she'll "showcasing brand new desserts that are different from what I have done."
