DOWNTOWN — Food & Wine has a lively Q&A with chef Andrew Curren of Easy Tiger, 24 Diner, and Arro. He says that besides cooking, his other talent is being a mentor, since "I have more than 270 employees and there's not a day that goes by that someone doesn't break a limb, get a DUI or want to go to culinary school." His dream restaurant would be a "horseshoe-shaped" building around a "huge outdoor kitchen," where he would serve "boiled crawfish" outside and "more refined" food inside. Andrew Curren, please open this restaurant very soon. [Food & Wine]
FAR NORTH — North by Northwest Brewery will be holding their Oktoberfest celebrations October 19th and 20th. They will brew a traditional German beer on-site and host a dog costume contest. The suggested $3 entry donation will benefit various nonprofits. [Eaterwire]
RAINEY STREET — NO VA, the new restaurant on Rainey Street by Brad Sorenson, has launched a new happy hour this week. Their main happy hour is Tuesday-Friday from 5-7pm, with two dollars off various drinks and food items. There's also a purely food-focused happy hour from Tuesday-Thursday from 11pm-close, with discounts on various late night eats. [Eaterwire]
