With the shuttering of Lovejoys, craft beer offerings downtown have slimmed down considerably, but now Bikinis breastaurant mogul Doug Guller is stepping into the foamy ring. The Chicago House, a microbrew-focused beer bar at 607 Trinity, will open January 23rd, according to a press release sent this week:
A hotel dating back to 1885 and a boarding house in the early 20th century, the property at 607 Trinity Street will open this month under the name The Chicago House. The bar will feature an extensive collection of craft beers and will be a premier destination for a choice micro-brew on the most popular street in Austin.Guller has been branching out from his breastaurant roots as of late, transitioning the Beale Street Tavern into the Parish Underground, opening downtown Tex-Mex spot Pelons in July '12 and taking over east side honky-tonk and music venue the Scoot Inn last fall. Guller's next project is a rooftop lounge next door to the Chicago House, at 609 Trinity Street.
