Local Vietnamese spot PhoNatic, the Allandale fast-casual brainchild of the family behind the sprawling Asian grocery superstore MT Supermarket on North Lamar, will expand to three locations in 2013, moving into South Austin and an as-yet unannounced third spot this year, both of which will be served by a new, central commissary kitchen. The south location, at Interstate 35 and Slaughter Lane, will open sometime in February. Per a press release:
A South Austin location (9900 S. Interstate 35, Bldg. 42, Suite 500; Austin, TX 78748) will take over 2,800 square feet of space and is expected to open next month. Continuing the momentum, construction on a third PhoNatic is scheduled for completion by summer. A commissary kitchen is also expected to be up and running in North Austin next month. The commissary is designed to streamline expansion plans and will produce all the eatery's main stocks and sauces, which will then be delivered to all restaurant locations to maintain quality and consistency.Owners Pat and Sara Lee plan to go full chain with PhoNatic, aiming to have six locations open by the end of 2014.
