This week the Statesman profiles Mickie Spencer, the designer and metalworker behind the East Side Showroom, Swan Dive, Banger's and Hillside Farmacy. She says that a well-designed restaurant is nothing without quality food: "I don't want it to be just slapping greasy burgers with bad service because then it defeats the whole purpose of putting your heart and soul into a place to make it look good."
