Bizarre Foods host Andrew Zimmern travels to Austin for tonight's 8 p.m. episode of the 'Murka-focused season. The official Travel Channel slideshow spots the television chefsonality extraordinaire at Foreign & Domestic (Zimmern's a professed Ned Elliott fan), Contigo, Lamberts, Smitty's Market, Pig Vicious, Gourdough's, Countryside Family Farm and on the hunt at Broken Arrow Ranch.
Zimmern talked with Eater National back in June about the upcoming episode, saying of Austin: "That place is so good, it's so vibrant." He was especially impressed by Contigo, watching it go from "hipster after-work bar kind of deal" to family meal time to packed with the "young eating crowd that kind of made it what it is." Says Zimmern: "That's the nature of Austin in general — all of the restaurants play double duty. I think it's really unique."
Tune in tonight for the Austin episode, then join us back here tomorrow afternoon for a debriefing with Zimmern hisownself.
