WEST CAMPUS -- Mark your do-gooding calendar (you've got a whole calendar for that, right?) for July 22nd, when FINO hosts a benefit dinner for Dai Due sous chef Tabatha Stephens and her husband, who lost their 10-week-old baby boy last month to a genetic disease. Proceeds from the $125-per-person event, which includes a silent auction and multi-course dinner, will go to benefit their family. [Eaterwire]
SAMUELSSONWIRE -- Top Chef: Masters winner and Red Rooster Harlem chef Marcus Samuelsson is coming to town next week to promote his memoir, Yes, Chef, and both Tom Thornton at Austinist and Layne Lynch at Texas Monthly squeeze some Austin love out of him. To Thornton, on the Austin F&W Fest, he says: there's "lot of good talent there and also for the vibe from the city it's a perfect place." To Lynch: "For its size, Austin is a fantastic food town. You can find great Vietnamese restaurants like Elizabeth [Street Café], and that’s not always obvious to outsiders like me." [Austinist/TxMo]
DOWNTOWN -- It's "Vino Night" at the Warehouse District's Kenichi. They're offering half off "select premium bottles of wine all night." [Eaterwire]
