This Monday, March 12th, Chef Sonya Coté's new neighborhood bistro-deli-drinkery, Hillside Farmacy, will officially open on the East Side, though since word spread of its soft opening this week, they've been packed most days. Serving up house punch, oysters, sandwiches and deli and grocery items to go, the Farmacy doesn't have a proper kitchen (Coté tells us they rely on a huge panini press) but it's not stopping them from curing rumbling stomachs.
We sent our award-winning photographer Raymond Thompson over to the Farmacy to get an inside look at the space, which housed Austin's first and only African-American-run pharmacy for decades, and the building is still owned by the founding pharmacist's family.
