Artz Rib House Owner Hopes To Re-Open Soon

New, 6 comments

Last week the rumor mill churned up news that the periodically financially troubled Artz Rib House on South Lamar had closed, with doors shut for a week and farewell messages posted on the barbecue joint's Facebook page. Owner Art Blondin had previously filed for bankruptcy back in December 2010 but still managed to keep the restaurant open while helping care for his sick wife. Late Friday afternoon, Addie Broyles over at the Statesman talked to Blondin about the closure:

“We’re not sure yet,” he said Friday afternoon when asked if the closure was for good. “We’re still negotiating with the landlord. We’ve got some interesting ideas coming up. Nothing is for sure. I’ll know more beginning of next week. We’re trying to work something out.”
The restaurant has been serving its specialty ribs for nearly twenty years.
