The Avocado Takedown Heads to Houston

It's time to show just how creative you can be with everyone's favorite versatile fruit at Houston's Avocado Takedown on Sunday, April 1st at Warehouse Live. Matt Timms, one of Food & Wine's "40 Under 40," will host the competition, as amateur chefs battle it out to serve the most creative dish using the avocado as the star ingredient (whipping up a batch of guac won't cut it). A trio of judges, including Mexican celebrity chef and critically-acclaimed restaurateur Aquiles Chavez, will select their favorites.
Thanks to a generous sponsorship from Avocados From Mexico, full crates of handpicked beauties will be on hand for participants as they compete for a $1,000 cash prize as well as a selection of top-of-the-line cookware. There are still a few spots left in the competition — head this way for more details on entering. Tickets are on sale now ($15) and give you unlimited tastings and a chance to vote in the audience-selected "People's Choice Award."
