Chicago-based food media personality person Steve Dolinsky ate a whole bunch of Central Texas barbecue this weekend and lived to gush about how awesome it is. Dolinsky's "Austin BBQ Armageddon" took him out to Lexington (Snow's), Elgin (Southside Market), Luling (Luling City Market) and Lockhart (Kreuz, Smitty's) as well as in-Austin stops. They made nine stops in three days, filming the whole smoky shebang.
That means: drinking mid-morning Lone Stars at JMueller BBQ, finding Franklin meats to be "so damn moist," and recommending that folks leave their "exterior garments" in their cars if they go to Smitty's, "because you will smell like smoke," like that's a bad thing.
