Japanese restaurants are Austin's newest jam: Ramen Tatsu-Ya is on fire, Paul Qui's planning something epic on the east side, and now it looks like two more Japanese spots are opening in northwest Austin and Cedar Park. One is called Soto, and it'll be a "contemporary style" place in Lakeline Plaza. Owner Leo Xu tells Eater Austin:
"Soto's philosophy is to integrate the best food ingredients from all over the globe and the fresh seasonal ingredients from local Texas farms with our upscale culinary skills. Soto is specialized in traditional Japanese cuisine with a touch of French influence."Down in Austin proper, Hanabi at West Anderson Lane and Burnet Road is now hiring:
"Concept of our menu is based on harmony of traditional and trendy Japanese cuisine. We are also well balanced between kitchen and sushi bar unlike other Japanese restaurant heavily based on sushi bar."Add these spots to Zen's not-so-secret plans to revamp their SoCo fast-casual spot into a full-service restaurant, and the trend is most definitely on.
