Why's the La Condesa crew all spandexed up? They're prepping for this year's Shiner-sponsored, sixth annual Cold Blood Chili Cook-Off will be held February 4th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Jo's Coffee lot down on South Congress. They're full up on entries, so they're not taking any more applicants, but lord knows they need all the help they can get eating, as well as raising money for the SIMS Foundation's Lila Tenenbown, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. From the official press release:
Featured bands performing include Li’l Cap’n Travis, Chili Cold Blood, Chaparral and Woodsboss. Free two-stepping lessons at 11 am, dance contest at 12 pm, live music and chili tasting from 11 to 3. Winners announced at 3 pm for 1st and 2nd Place Chili, People’s Choice Award and Best Showmanship, with prizes including free nights at Hotel San Jose and Hotel Havana, bar tabs at the Hotel San Jose lounge, cases of Shiner beer, Central Market gift baskets, trophies and more.Tickets are $20, and there's also a silent auction and bake sale by Katy Cupcakes.
