Oh, look, here's a recipe card box from Royer's Round Top Cafe. Pie is one of those things that can be so delicious and yet so, for some reason so very, very difficult to find done right, and perhaps that's why so many people from both Austin and Houston are willing to make the trek out to Royer's in Round Top, Texas. Conveniently, pieman Bud Royer has decided to put all his secrets inside this one tin box, meaning that if a road trip isn't in the cards but pie is still on the menu, you can try your hand at his famous pies (and cafe dishes) yourself.
Also, Eater Austin has one of these bad boys to give away to a reader. All you have to do is tell us the story of the greatest lengths you've gone to for pie by Monday morning. (And we do mean pie. You know, pastry crust, fruit and/or custard filling, often served at diners. NSFW stories will be automatically disqualified — some swears allowed.) The best tale of pie devotion wins its teller a Royers Recipe tin of his or her very own.
