Barbecue to the rescue: both the Salt Lick and Black's Barbecue are helping with the wildfire relief effort. First of all, the Salt Lick is going to Bastrop both tonight and tomorrow night, armed to the gills with 1,000 chopped beef sandwiches and 1,000 smoked chicken meals for evacuees. Meals can be picked up at the Bastrop Convention Center both days from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. They're also asking for Gatorade donations; you can either make those at their restaurant locations in Driftwood and Round Rock.
And down in Lockhart, Black's is having a Wildfire Benefit on September 14 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. 100% of donations taken at the door will go to relief funds, and, as a bonus, Saint Arnold will be there sampling their Oktoberfest.
If any other restaurants are doing something to help out, hit up the tipline.
