Austin Isn't Getting a Royer's Pie Truck Just Yet

In their food gossip roundup this week, the Chronicle reported a number of tidbits about Round Top, Texas pie mecca Royers Cafe. Most of the items aren't Austin related, except for one: "Austinites can expect to purchase pies locally from the Pieman's Pie Palace trailer sometime in the fall."

Eater talked to Pieman/Royer's owner Bud Royer, who says plans for a pie truck have been put on hold: "We have hit a fork in the road as of yesterday?.. and it is on the cold back burner." Royer promises it's not a done deal, though, and adds "Its time will come!" Pie fans will just have to make the trip down 290 for the time being.
