Crossroads Bar on S. Lamar Gets Conditional Approval

New, 2 comments

The City of Austin has issued a conditional use permit for Crossroads, a new bar concept planned for 1901 South Lamar. The building is an old car service center that has been empty for quite some time now, and the owners are looking to turn it into a neighborhood, corner bar kind of place. A summary filed with the City says they want it to be an all-ages hang out that encourages patrons to bike.

Not everyone thinks that's a great idea, though: the Zilker Neighborhood Association doesn't want another bar in the area, and would prefer a restaurant or a grocery store. One member of the group even bemoans the fact that there "are fewer and fewer car repair shops" on the busy strip to KVUE. Guess they really don't want another bar. The group has 14 days to file an appeal.
