Come August 8, a six-year lawsuit between the owners of South Congress Cafe and the City of Austin will draw to a close. The city takes issue with the cafe's back deck, which reduces the amount of parking in the area.
The Austin Business Journal navigates the murky half-decade of permits, parking spaces and patios, but basically it boils down to this: South Congress Cafe attorneys say the city "jerked us around and terminated a development plan that had already been approved," while the city says "Like everybody else, [South Congress Cafe] has to comply with city codes." Now it's up to a judge to decide.
