Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau Didn't Pay Top Chef

Rumors are flying that various city Convention & Visitors Bureaus across the state were asked to pony up some cash in exchange for Top Chef filming in their city. Houston was asked. So was Dallas. But what about Austin?

Nope: Beth Krauss at the Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau tells Eater "I can verify for you that the Austin CVB did not pay to bring Top Chef to Texas," but did not confirm that they had been asked. So there you have it.

Meanwhile, the governor's office (they run Texas Tourism) and the Texas Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus are also denying paying any money for filming. Eater National has details on that.
