Alcocer-Thomas Opening El Alma in El Chile Spot

Alma Alcocer-Thomas, the executive chef of the El Chile Group, is opening El Alma is the former El Chile location at Barton Springs and Dawson. (A spot which seems to have some trouble keeping a restaurant for more than a couple years — before it was an El Chile, it was an El Chilito, and before that, the Gypsy Lounge.)

Opening sometime this summer, El Alma is a collaboration between Alcocer-Thomas and Carlos Rivero of the El Chile Group. The new restaurant will serve Mexico City-style cuisine (as opposed to El Chile's Tex-Mex food) and will feature a rooftop bar.
