Here's the upcoming Lavaca Teppan, a Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant downtown. Teppanyaki is iron griddle cooking — think Benihana, but without the cheeseball act in front of the customers. The restaurant, which will "most likely open by the end of the month," is from Toshiyuki and Yoko Niizeki, who used to own a similar restaurant in San Angelo. These photos were sent along by Chioco Design, who worked on the space; they've also done Austin restaurants like Perla's, Star Bar and Kung Fu Saloon.
