Here's a segment from the Cooking Channel's Unique Eats that covers Franklin Barbecue (although they visit the now-shuttered trailer on I-35 as opposed to their current brick-and-mortar location). Aaron Franklin's on hand to discuss his brisket secrets, but it doesn't seem to be much more than salt, pepper, smoke, and magic: "There's really nothing you could ever read in a book that would teach you how to tend a fire. It's really more of an experience thing." They also bring up the restaurant's infamous lines, but, as one commenter puts it, "it's not like waiting at the DMV." Here's the video:
