The Chronicle on Barley Swine, All-City Subs, Dos Batos

A trio of winners from the Chronicle this week: first up, Kate Thornberry discovers the "universally thoughtful" and "emotionally moving" food at Barley Swine, where the fried brussels sprouts are "what food is supposed to taste like."

Next, Mick Vann doesn't mince words when giving the lowdown on All-City Subs: "We think you'll find it a cut above the standard sandwich spot. The menu isn't huge, but the offerings are all first-rate, and you get good value for what little you spend."

Rounding out the triple whammy: Virginia Wood, who checks out Dos Batos and declares the J-pop-playing, Mexican street food-serving taqueria to be "the basis for another successful homegrown chain."
