Ned Elliott Follows Up on Thomas Keller Remarks

New, 8 comments

Foreign & Domestic chef Ned Elliott has commented on the restaurant's Facebook page concerning the second half of an interview he did with us Monday, saying that some comments he made about chef Thomas Keller were not aimed specifically at the chef, but rather at "how I felt about cooking for different restaurants in NYC."

Elliott also said "Some of what was asked about our restaurant was printed and some wasn't." The interview was edited for length and clarity, and Eater Austin stands by the interview as it originally ran.

Hey everyone, last week I did an interview for Eater about celebrating our 1st anniversary. Some of what was asked about our restaurant was printed and some wasn't. I stand by what I said in the interview. The TK [Thomas Keller] remark was not aimed at him but was stating how I felt about cooking for different restaurants in NYC. In those kitchens there are a lot of things that go on that no one ever talks about.

As for Austin, we love and cherish it. We are standing on the cusp of something great here, and we are very lucky and proud to be a part of it. My regret is that I put my foot in my mouth. I hope that you will forgive me and visit my wife and my restaurant with an open mind. We don't pretend to be the best, just a few people striving for to do the best that we are able to do.

Regards,
Ned Elliott
