Last night were the James Beard Awards, and Austin's very own Tyson Cole of Uchi and Uchiko went home with the medal for the Best Chef: Southwest category. The whole gang was in town, with Paul Qui, Vu Le and Philip Speer on board to serve their Unicorn dish of uni and corn sorbet (get it?!) at the Grand Tasting after the ceremony.
Cole tied in the category with Saipin Chutima of Las Vegas' Lotus of Siam. It was the eighth tie in the history of the Beard Awards. Congratulations to both chefs!
