At the Conduit Get Sauced SXSWi pool party at the Ashton Austin last weekend, adult beverages (provided by Belvedere Vodka) were consumed and there was a little bit of a barbecue competition: reps from various tech companies went head to head with barbecue sauces to go with the sausage and chicken being served at the party.
Sarah Simmons, Food & Wine's Home Cook Superstar, ran and judged the competition. The contestants were: Anthony De Rosa, Neighborhoodr; Michael Galpert, Aviary; Lauren Leto, Texts from Last Night & Bntr; Steve Martocci, GroupMe; Brooke Moreland, Fashism; Steve Jang, Schematic Labs; Alexis Juneja, Curbed Network (aka Team EATER); Rachel Sklar, Change the Ratio and Michael Yavonditte, Hashable.
In the video below, Team Eater describes their very technical business-card recipe strategy, which, alas, did not bring home the title. That honor went to Steve Jang's Korean-influenced sauce. Congrats, Steve!
