Counter Culture Truck Gets A Forever Home

New, 2 comments

Continuing the trend of food trucks moving into brick-and-mortar digs, the Counter Culture vegan-and-raw-foods trailer will move from North Loop to the east side come spring 2012. Via Austin Is Delicious, we found this announcement on the truck's Facebook page:

Great News! I just signed a lease for a restaurant space on Cesar Chavez 5 blocks East of Chicon! The trailer will be up and running for about 2 more months and I hope to have the restaurant open by March 1st. It will be a sit down table service establishment with beer & wine and it has a patio! I'll keep some of the same menu items and add lots of salads, sides and plates as well as raw foods and many more desserts. Thank you for your support in the trailer years and I look forward to feeding you in the new spot!
We e-mailed the truck to get more details, and they told us the new location will be a place "where folks on the East Side can get a healthy plant based meal that's tasty and affordable."

Truck owner Sue Davis says they'll add "lots of goodies" like "gluten-free mac'n'cheeze" and "seitan and gravy," plus "fresh juices, coffee and organic beer and wine." They aim to have live music during SXSW, too. Exciting! Fine! Whatever! Psh! Scoff! North Austin didn't need Counter Culture anyway. They've got the North Austin Trailer Yard coming, after all.
