The Travel Channel's Andrew Zimmern had a whirlwind tour of Austin this past week, but alas he has left. We left him need of rest and a high colonic. Eater Austin has an update on a few more places he visited before his departure. If you missed your opportunity to give him a hug, we're sure he'll be back. He will be, in April.
Zimmern didn't give us a one night stand. He cuddled. He took us to breakfast. He introduced us to his parents. In addition to what Eater reported last week, here's a recount of where the film crew drooled (and hated him) while he had the ultimate tour of town.
Zimmern says the meal at Uchiko was "the meal of the year" posing with chefs Paul Qui and Tyson Cole. Pastry chef Phillip Speer's sweet treat was so phenomenal he was speechless. Speer tells Eater Austin it was "coconut milk creme, avocado puree, toasted rice sorbet, lime mousse, galangal tapioca, jasmine bubbles, and lime."
He was also spotted at the Turf N Surf trailer at 2nd and Congress. He went to Lambert's Barbecue. He kept eating. He also stopped by the new mezcal temple, Bar Ilegal on Rainey Street, before waking up early for a trip to the Saturday Farmers Market downtown. In true Austin style he somehow rallied and went to a UT tailgate before the Texas Tech game.
