Brew Exchange Replacing Annie's West; Nook on 6th

New, 2 comments

Annie's West, one of the they-all-are-somewhat-the-same bars on West 6th Street closed last week, to be replaced by a new concept: Brew Exchange. They will have a full bar, 100+ beers (with 72 on draft), and an "excellent" wine selection. Here's the interesting part: the beer prices will fluctuate based on supply and demand. Does that mean if there's a group of guys chugging Bud Lite, the prices will go up? If you're the only one drinking the craft double IPA, is yours cheaper? Details are still sketchy, but the opening date is planned for next month.

A new bar is in the works for Dirty Sixth, finally filling the hole created in 2002 when the Black Cat Lounge burned down. It will be called The Nook, and an opening date has not been set. Will it be a decent refuge from the craziness on that stretch of downtown, or will 50 cent shots of Patron keep students from studying for their Friday exams. We'll find out next year.
