New, 2 comments

The state's monthly alcohol sales for September were just released, courtesy of reports generated by The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and The Texas Comptroller's Office.

Statewide, 13,451 business reported alcohol sales, totaling around $401 million in revenue.

The state's top winner? Dallas Cowboy's Stadium in Arlington with $3M in alcohol sales.

In Austin, 796 business reported with a total of $40 million in sales. Austin's winner - Barton Creek Country Club with $421k in sales.

Other notable rankings in Austin:
#2 - The W Hotel
#3 - The Hilton (4th Street)
#4 - The Four Seasons/Trio
#6 - Kung Fu Saloon
#8 - Eddie V's (downtown)
#12 - Perfect 10 Men's Club
#25 - The Oasis
#27 - Second Bar+Kitchen
#43 - Perla's
#146 - East Side Showroom

Looking at the rankings it seems people love to drink out of their hotel room's mini-bar, sharing too many cocktails in the company of overly friendly women in the lobby lounge, and ordering an $8 Bud Light from room service.

Note: the data in the file reports receipts after taxes, and the revenue numbers are calculated based on state public records.
