A tipster alerted Eater Austin today that Mike's Pub, a rare, dive burger and beer joint in the heart of downtown, is closing today.
A small hole in the wall, situated in a parking garage near the Stephen F. Austin and Driskill Hotels, Mike's Pub has not changed much over the years. Yelper Kilroy W shares:
Been going to Mike's for about 20 years. The only thing that's changed is about 10 years ago they put in the fancy eatin' table in the back. You know-the pool table -under the piece of plywood-under the red/white plastic table cloth.
Reports are that the owners were not able to renew their lease for the location. No immediate plans for another project or another location are available at this time.
UPDATE: More from tipster: "It was passed from grandad, to dad, to son. He was holding out hope til last min landlord could work it out. No plans to relo."
