A new ice cream shop is about to open on South Lamar, and Eater Austin got a sneak peek at Lick before the doors officially open next week. Anthony Sobotik and his partner Chad Palmatier want to bring back the idea of a neighborhood scoop, with a more creative flair than the standard of Amy's Ice Cream, for which they have nothing but love.
Seeing the space vacated by Peacock Salon, Anthony just knew it would make a great spot for an ice cream shop. The large glass panel windows, the retro look, and the perfect location in a south Austin neighborhood just called to him.
Lick Ice Cream will be all natural, made from organic milk and cream from Jersey cows. Whenever possible local ingredients will be used, from Round Rock Honey, to chocolate from Delysia Chocolatier, to sweet potatoes from local farmers.
Anthony promises the flavors will be as unique as Austin - Pure Luck Goat Cheese, Thyme, and Honey; Cilantro Lime, and Lemon Lavender are just a few examples.
Lick Ice Cream will open it's doors on Monday, October 17th and will host a "Free Lick Night" on Wednesday, October 19th from 6-9PM. Guests will be able to sample all of the available flavors and choose one complimentary single scoop cup.
