Delicious sandwiches are coming to East Austin later this month with the planned opening of Gourmands Neighborhood Pub. A family-run business, Gourmands aims to be an establishment that you can get an awesome sandwich, drink a beer and hang out with people of all walks of life.

The owners are Tiffany and Mike Russell, Ben Siewart, and Caitlin Shea, all residents of the east side neighborhood. Tiffany Russell says their goal is "to be a neighborhood pub where everyone feels welcome and makes their regular hang."

Mike Russell, currently a sous chef at The Austin Club, will be leaving his post there to run the kitchen at Gourmands. The menu offers fourteen "Fat Sandwiches", such as a roast beef and brie; chicken breast, avocado, bacon, and cheese; and a stacked Italian, "The Goodfella." The six hot sandwich offerings will include standards like a Philly and a Reuben.

The full bar will offer local and international brews, liquors, and wines from family owned vineyards. Tiffany tells Eater:

We will have daily specials along with Happy hour specials to hit every one's budget. We will also have 32oz schooners of ice cold beer to accompany our fat sandwiches and soups in locally made bread bowls.

Gourmand's opens October 28th, replacing an old Tejano night club. Yes, they did take the disco ball down.
