Max's Brings State Fair Inspired Food to Austin

All this week Chef Erica Beneke is running a unique series of specials at Max's Wine Dive - dishes inspired by and celebrating the Texas State Fair. If you are unable to make the drive to Dallas before the annual fried gluttony/car show/ferris wheel comes to an end in 12 days, here's your chance to get a finer taste of this tradition.

No, there will not be fried bubblegum, deep fried salsa, or buffalo chicken flapjacks.

Here are Chef Beneke's specials, skillful takes from Food Row:
-Twin County Dorper's spiced lamb corn dog with sweet house made mustard-mint sauce and arugula slaw
-Grilled Lockhart quail kebabs with 1015 onions and Johnson's Backyard Garden sweet peppers
-Deep fried bread and butter zucchini pickles
-Chicken fried house made bacon with ancho-chocolate sauce
-Sweet saffron funnel cake with pickled cherries
