Wine and Food Pairing; Jester King's Grand Opening

IACPWIRE — Edible Austin and The Texas Food and Wine Gourmet have announced The Edible Texas Wine and Food Pairing Competition, a contest open to Central Texas restaurants and wineries. Five finalist menus and accompanying wine pairings will be judged by a panel of national celebrities (ooh, celebrities!) on June 3 at the Carillon. The event is set to coincide with the 2011 International Association of Culinary Professionals conference; deadline for entries is February 15, so get on it. [Eaterwire]

FAR WEST — Jester King Brewery has released some details about the Grand Opening celebration on January 29. It'll run from 1:00PM-9:00PM and they'll have Grand Opening Snifters for sale for $10. Cash only, bring the pets, kids and lawn chairs. Also, they'll have a bonfire! [JKB]
