The Best Austin Meals of 2010

As is the tradition at Eater, our closeout of the year is a survey of industry types, writers, and readers. This year, we asked the group eight questions, from Best Newcomers to Top Standbys. All will be answered by the time we turn off the lights on Thursday. Responses are related in no particular order; all are cut, pasted and unedited herein:

What and where was your single best meal in 2010?

Ryan Adams, Nose to Tail at Home:
Uchiko. I just told the waiter that we were game for anything, and they treated us like royalty. Can't praise them enough.

Kay Marley, food writer: There's been so many! My single best meal was at Finn & Porter. In addition to an elegant foie gras appetizer, I had perfectly cooked scallops and shrimp. The waitstaff went above and beyond, ensuring that my party felt like treasured dining companions rather than patrons.

Austinist's food writer Tom Thornton: In Austin - Uchiko. Anywhere - Blackbird in Chicago.

Rachel and Logan, Boots in the Oven: Taste of Ethiopia- fucking delicious.

Kristi Willis, Austin Farm to Table: Dai Due Seafood Dinner or Fino Chef's Table

Erin McReynolds, food writer: Smitty’s BBQ in Lockhart; if strictly in Austin, any meal with friends and spätlese Riesling at Asia Café

Natanya Anderson, Fete & Feast: The Carillon
