Toronto-based writers Reb Stevenson and Gale Beeby both recently visited Austin and apparently had very different experiences. Stevenson, reporting for The Toronto Star, seems to have had a great time eating at food trucks, getting barbecue at the Salt Lick, and playing chicken shit bingo at Ginny’s Little Longhorn.
Beeby, as noted by John Kelso at the Statesman, visits an Austin we've never seen before: "In Austin, the city went to bed at 5 p.m., and on the weekend there was nobody on the streets. Even the Starbucks was deserted." Is that even possible? In any case, we humbly suggest she check out more barbecue and fewer chain coffee shops next time she's in town.
